Bopo's Images

In Mr. Kramp's class we learned about the three different types of images that are used on the web. They are GIF, JPEG, and PNG. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you would use one of these three types. GIF's are used when you don't have many colors and you are using line art. GIF's can also have transparency on them. You use JPEG's when you have lots of colors. They are used mostly for photographs. They also can be compressed into small file sizes for fast loading. You can use PNG's for photos as well or line art. They tend to have larger file size than the other two, but offer 256 levels of transparency.

We also learned how to optimize images for the web. The main reason to optimize images is so that your web page loads fast. My first example is a JPEG image. This image was huge and took quite a while to load. I optimized it and now it loads almost imediately.

We also optimized an image of our school logo. I converted it to a GIF from a TIFF so that it could be viewed on the web. You can also click on the image to view a larger version of it.
